Upgrading to ORIGO Education’s Stepping Stones program has helped teachers at New South Wales’ Montgrove College adapt to maths curriculum changes and meet required syllabus outcomes.
Year six teacher Natalie Oxley welcomed the upgrade to Stepping Stones as ORIGO’s Go Maths program had previously set “a very solid and consistent” groundwork for K-6 (Kindergarten to year 6) mathematics.
“Our ORIGO subscription has provided our teachers with a clear, structured and user-friendly mathematics program,” said Natalie, who has been teaching for 23 years.
“We wanted a program which not only met current syllabus requirements, but also a program which included engaging hands-on experiences which can be differentiated to meet the needs of all of our students.
“With the ORIGO Stepping Stones program, I feel confident that I am meeting syllabus requirements for my students. I feel that it has certainly taken the stress out of programming as so many digital resources are at hand to draw upon.”
Using Stepping Stones Natalie feels her students gradually build on maths knowledge in carefully planned and deliberately sequenced ways.
“They are engaged in every lesson and respond well to the digital resources which are used,” said Natalie from her school in Orchard Hills, Sydney.
“The Step In, Step Up and Step Ahead sequence for every lesson ensures that skills are taught or modelled, skills are practised with assistance if needed or guided and then developed or extended through independent questions.
“The Check Up Quizzes have been a wonderful tool for students to develop and master skills, as well as inform my teaching practise and future lesson planning.”
Natalie positively recommends ORIGO Education’s Stepping Stones program and products to teachers for their convenience, quality and appeal to students.
“I love that everything I need to teach mathematics is in one place. I really like how the practise book and journal can be used in correlation as class and home learning tools,” Natalie said.
“It provides everything you need – resources, programming tools, digital lesson content, videos, suggestions for differentiation – and the list really goes on… all in one place! The Class Textbooks are high quality and the students at our school are loving Maths!”
