School readiness is a term that refers to a child’s successful and easy transition into school. It is something that can be actively facilitated with forward planning and the help of educational resources. It’s important for early learners to regularly participate in activities that develop appropriate skills required for optimal learning, as this helps to ensure they’re school ready.
ORIGO Education is passionate about early learning. Over our 25 years of operation, ORIGO Education have developed many resources for early learners (children aged 3–5). ORIGO Education understand the importance of school readiness and the fact that it doesn’t just refer to a child knowing their colours or being able to count to ten. School readiness is a much more encompassing term that also considers that emotional readiness of a child, as well as their language, play, and social skills which is developed through positive everyday experiences.
These aspects have been taken into consideration by ORIGO Education and in response, the Early Years Learning Package was developed and launched. The Early Years Learning Package is a package of products that are student-centric, hands-on, mathematic and language focused, and strives to build skills conceptually and create strong foundations.
ORIGO Education’s approach to learning is committed to developing the six identified skills and behaviours that enable children to start their school life with confidence. These include:
- Social skills – Being able to get along.
- Cognitive skills – Basic number sense and thinking skills.
- Emotional maturity – Learning the rules of schools.
- Language skills – Developing mathematical vocabulary.
- Physical health and coordination – Developing fine and gross motor skills.
- Independence – Managing needs without adult support.
Without the skills that the Early Years Learning Package provides, children can very quickly find themselves needing to ‘catch up’. Children may also experience:
- Getting easily frustrated;
- Struggling to follow instructions in daily tasks;
- Struggling to express themselves;
- Failing to develop good receptive skills;
- Resisting the development of new skills, and more.
The unique blend of play-based and structured learning activities that ORIGO Education resources provide give children the opportunity to play in a natural environment while developing their mathematical concepts, skills, and language structures.
