Focus on Fractions: Webinar and Regional Sessions - July - Sept 2020
Did you know ACARA will begin its review of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics in July this year, with the aim of refining, realigning and decluttering the content?
There is considerable research (Siegler, 2012, 2015, 2016) to show that success in high school mathematics is closely correlated with student’s confidence with fractions. This is not surprising when strands such as ratio and proportions, algebra and problem solving in general are analysed. Therefore, it is essential that we give primary students appropriate experiences in all aspects of fractions to better prepare them for success in high school and beyond.
